Grace’s Amazing Achievements

Congratulations to old scholar Grace Lam ’19 who recently was named as a top three finalist for the Channel 7 Young Achiever Award. Grace was nominated by Tutti Arts as a multi-disciplinary artist for her piano playing, performing arts and her own visual arts business, Grace’s Handmade Cards.

Grace’s mother Monica notes that Grace competed against hundreds of others for this award, which was not specifically for people with disabilities.

“That’s why we are so proud,” said Monica.

Here is an excerpt from Grace’s speech.

“When I finished school I was frightened because there were no jobs for me. So my Mum and I started my business, Grace’s Handmade Cards, so I can have a job. What I want to do is grow my business so that other people with disabilities can have a job too. I would like you to know that people with disabilities can do an amazing job too, so give us a chance!”

You can find out more about Grace’s business by checking her Facebook page.

Monica and Grace hope to have a stand-alone shop where Grace’s artwork, along with other people’s artwork, can be available for sale and where Grace and other friends can work together.
