Sasha Barlow

Learning Centre Coordinator

“Cabra is a special place to learn and a special place to teach. It is the place I fell in love with teaching on practicum and a place I am blessed to work. Diversity and acceptance is the norm here at Cabra; and I am very proud to be a part of this microcosm of the world. Teachers are able and willing to adjust work to varying student levels and needs and students have a voice in their education. The Learning Centre is a homely environment that welcomes all students and helps them on their journeys, both educationally and personally.

Teaching has also been about the individual for me; personalising learning to meet the students’ needs and motivate them to achieve beyond their expectations is a key area of focus for me. I have taught a range of subjects such as English, Drama, History and Community Studies. I have a love for teaching Flexible SACE subjects, so I am able to tap into students’ interests and help them develop authentic and meaningful learning experiences. I am also passionate about helping students to connect with support agencies to help them gain access to tertiary studies, open or supported employment. This school journey is a partnered one, with parents, caregivers, staff and students, helping students to find their future pathways.”
